Before entering the hospital Lisa provided my wife, H, with considerable
support and encouragement, which she found invaluable. She was able
to provide impartial advice, based on her own experiences and through
her background research, which reassured H and enabled her confidence
to grow. A particular benefit was the fact that at no point did Lisa
push her views on us or negate any of our choices – instead she
was able to support our decision making and encourage us to take our
own choices. On the actual day our daughter was born, Lisa was punctual,
reliable, courteous and totally focussed on being the best support to
us she could be. She was able to reassure H and I effectively and offer
balanced and appropriate advice as to how the birth was progressing.
As the contractions became more frequent, Lisa was able to massage H
to great effect, and provide me with information as to what was going
on. When **** was born, Lisa allowed us to properly bond with her and
at the same time share the joy and elation that we felt. Lisa made an
excellent doula, and our birth experience was immeasurably easier due
to her help. Lisa’s involvement enabled us to have the best birth
experience that we could have hoped for.
